Is a Seville Cathedral Tour Worth It?
The Cathedral's own ticket is 13 EUR online and has no guide. When a guided Seville Cathedral tour earns its price, when the ticket is enough, and what each one includes.
For the Cathedral alone, a tour is worth it if you want the building explained; it is not needed to get in. The Chapter sells its own ticket for 13 EUR online or 14 EUR at the office, the tower included, and the same ticket opens a second church in the old town, with an audio guide for 5 EUR more (Cabildo of Seville Cathedral, checked November 2026). A guided tour earns its higher price on a first visit: a guide who tells you what you are looking at in the largest Gothic cathedral in the world, entry booked for you, and, on the combined tours, the Real Alcázar in the same morning.
What the Cathedral’s own ticket gives you
The general visit begins at the Giralda, which you climb by ramps, then takes you through the Cathedral at your own pace; the Cathedral puts the visit at about 75 minutes, and the ticket time is the time you enter, with no limit but closing time. Online tickets enter by the Puerta del Lagarto, beside the tower, and ticket-office buyers by the Puerta del Príncipe on the south side. Reduced tickets are 7 or 8 EUR, children up to 13 go free with an adult, and the same ticket opens the Church of El Salvador.
The Cathedral also runs its own guided tour of the Cathedral and the Giralda, about 90 minutes in English or Spanish, for 20 EUR online or 21 EUR at the office, and a visit to the roofs for the same price, which no tour company sells (all checked November 2026). For free visiting times, check the Cathedral’s site: its own pages do not agree on them.
What a guide adds
The Cathedral tells you little about itself as you walk round: chapel after chapel, the main altarpiece the Cathedral calls the largest in Christendom, the choir, and the tomb of Christopher Columbus, with almost nothing to explain why any of it is there. A guide gives you the story in order: the mosque the Cathedral replaced, the Giralda’s past as its minaret, why Columbus lies in Seville. On the Crown Tours tour each guest has a personal headset, so you hear the guide in a church where people may be praying in a side chapel.
The other thing a tour buys is the morning. The combined tours take you through the Real Alcázar as well, with the entry booked, the order planned and the walk across Plaza del Triunfo in between, so one booking covers both monuments.
When the tour earns it
For a first visit with the Real Alcázar on the same day, a guided tour is worth it. The one in the calendar below is Crown Tours’ Seville: Priority Access Cathedral, Giralda & Alcázar Tour: the Alcázar first, then the Giralda and the Cathedral, about 2.5 to 3 hours, from $60 on promotion, usually $77 (checked November 2026). Its Priority Access option was US$66 on 12 November and, on 24 November, US$60 at the 2:35 pm start, US$66 from 11:15 am and US$68 at 10:00 to 11:00 (checked November 2026).
It is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility impairments, and it needs full names and passport numbers at booking. For the Cathedral alone with a guide, the Seville Cathedral & Giralda Tower: Fast-Track Guided Tour (Voyager Seville) takes 1.5 hours, from $38 on promotion, usually $40 (checked November 2026), with up to 30 minutes on the Giralda at your own pace before an hour inside with the guide.
A ticket from a booking site
Some readers want only a ticket, but booked through the same site as the rest of their trip. The Seville: Cathedral and La Giralda Entry Ticket, from $20 (checked November 2026), is that: entry to the Cathedral and the Giralda with no guide, a booking fee included in the price, an audio guide only in its second option, and no refund once bought. It needs an ID or passport number for everyone, and it is a ticket, not a tour.
When to go in on your own

If you have an hour, if you come to pray or to hear Mass, or if you like to read a building at your own pace, buy the Cathedral’s own ticket and take the audio guide. The worship-only opening, from 8:00 to 10:30 each day, is for prayer and Mass, not for visits. Climbing the Giralda covers what each tour does at the tower, and which Seville Cathedral tour sets all of them side by side.
