Seville Cathedral Hours, Rules and the December Notice

Seville Cathedral visiting hours, Monday to Saturday 10:45 to 18:00 and Sunday 14:30 to 19:00, the 4 to 8 December notice, what to wear and what not to bring.

Updated November 2026

The Cathedral’s schedules page gives its visiting hours as Monday to Saturday 10:45 to 18:00, with the ticket office closing at 17:00, and Sunday 14:30 to 19:00, office closing at 18:00 (Cabildo of Seville Cathedral, checked November 2026). It changes them by notice for worship, and one notice is up: from 4 to 7 December the visit covers only the Giralda and the Fons Pietatis exhibition, and on 8 December it is suspended. Dress for a working church, and check the Cathedral’s site before you set out.

Hours from the Cabildo of Seville Cathedral and the Real Alcázar, read November 2026.

The Cathedral’s pages do not all print the same times, and its schedules page itself warns that hours change without notice for worship, so the table is where to start, not a promise. The general visit begins at the Giralda; the time on your ticket is your entry time, and you may stay until the visit closes. No visits run during liturgical acts.

The December notice

Map of the ways into Seville Cathedral: the Puerta del Perdón on the north side, the online entrance from 4 to 7 December; the Puerta del Lagarto beside the Giralda, the usual entrance for online tickets and the ticket office from 4 to 7 December; the Puerta del Príncipe on the south side, the usual ticket office; and the Real Alcázar ticket office in the Patio de Banderas
The gates in December: from 4 to 7 December online visitors enter by the Puerta del Perdón and the ticket office moves to the Puerta del Lagarto; on other days online tickets use the Lagarto gate and the office is at the Puerta del Príncipe.

The Cathedral’s cultural-visit page carries this notice, read in November 2026: “On the occasion of the International Congress of Brotherhoods and Popular Piety: From December 4 to 7, the cultural visit will only include the ascent to the Giralda and the visit to the Fons Pietatis Exhibition.” Online access in those days is through the Puerta del Perdón, and the ticket office moves to the Puerta del Lagarto. “The cultural visit is suspended on December 8.”

The notice prints no year; it was on the page for 4 to 8 December when read in November 2026. Tours booked for those days follow it. The Seville: Alcázar and Cathedral Entry Ticket and Guided Tour (SEVILLA OFFICIAL TOURS) keeps its Cathedral part to the eastern third of the church, where the exhibition is, without the Main Chapel or Columbus’ Tomb. Tours without December terms of their own still warn that religious events may restrict access, the Crown Tours tour among them. Read the notice again before you travel: the Cathedral posts its changes there.

Works on the Giralda

The sixth phase of the restoration of the Giralda, on its Renaissance crown and the supports of the bells, began in April 2026 and is planned for about 22 months. The Cathedral says the visits are not interrupted. In May 2026, during the works, it limited group tickets to one group of up to 30 people every 30 minutes, announced for about two months.

What to wear

The Cathedral’s rules ask visitors to dress respectfully and to take off head coverings inside. It publishes a dress guide as a separate document: check it before you go. Tours apply their own lists at the meeting point. The Crown Tours tour rules out short skirts, sleeveless shirts and sandals or flip flops; the Voyager Seville tour bars extremely short shorts or skirts, sleeveless tops, caps and hats; the Cathedral and Giralda entry ticket on GetYourGuide does not allow shorts, hats, short skirts, sleeveless shirts or bags. Long trousers or a skirt to the knee, and a shirt with sleeves or a scarf for the shoulders, meet all of them.

It is a working church, and the rules are about the people inside as much as the building: Mass is said daily, and some visitors come only to pray.

What not to bring

The Cathedral allows no flash photography and no tripods, no food (water only), no smoking, and no pets except guide dogs. Tours add luggage and large bags to that list, and on the guided tours you need the passport or ID you gave when booking: some accept a photo or copy, some only the original. Leave suitcases at your hotel; which Seville Cathedral tour sets out each tour’s terms, and climbing the Giralda what the tower asks of your legs.
